Thyromine : natural thyroid supplement

If you are experiencing chronic fatigue, sensitivity to cold, hair loss, weight gain, itchy skin, hoarseness, headaches, constipation, decreased libido, depression and/or elevated cholesterol, you may be suffering from an under active thyroid, or hypothyroidism. It is estimated that nearly 11 million Americans are affected by an unhealthy thyroid.

The thyroid gland, the body’s thermostat, is located in the neck just below and behind the Adam’s apple. Its function is to regulate temperature by secreting two hormones which control how fast the body burns calories and uses energy. Hypothyroidism is the result of low levels of hormone secretion. If gone untreated, symptoms can range from minor to life threatening.

To self-test for low thyroid production, keep a thermometer by your bed. Upon awakening, place and hold the thermometer under the arm for fifteen minutes. In order to not upset the temperature reading, remain quiet and still. A 97.6 degree fahrenheit temperature or lower may be a sign of an under active thyroid. If the reading is consistently low, consult a physician.

To determine if your thyroid is working properly, your health care provider will order a blood test to measure the levels of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH). If your thyroid is not functioning properly, your physician will prescribe what they feel is appropriate medication – most commonly the synthetic formula Synthroid.

As someone who has first hand experience dealing with hypothyroidism, I opted for a more natural alternative. Since diagnosed six years ago, Armour Thyroid has been my hormone replacement therapy of choice.

Armour which is dissicated (dried) thyroid gland derived from grain-fed pigs is termed bioidentical in that it closely copy cats a human thyroid hormone. As a natural thyroid supplement, Armour effectively provides the key thyroid hormones T3 and T4. However, this support thyroid supplement is becoming more difficult to obtain due to production problems.

Wanting to stay away from a synthetic hormone replacement because of its many known side effects, I searched and found the natural thyroid supplement Thyromine. Similar to Armour, one of its ingredients is a thyroid powder made from the glands obtained from organically fed cows. Other natural ingredients found in Thyromine are ginger, guglipid, nori, piper longum, and L-Tyrosine.

Because Thyromine is an all natural supplement, no prescription is required for its purchase. Although many positive reviews have been written and no side effects have been reported, it is recommended that you visit your doctor for necessary testing of TSH levels.
